A neighbourhood is not the same thing as a community

A neighbourhood is the geographic area where people live.  A community is a set of relationships.   If we are trying to reach into a neighbourhood, one result would be to try to be the catalyst for a community.  If we put on an event for people in the neighbourhood, we may be able to create community for those who are attending.  It’s a two-fold task:  We reach out into a neighbourhood, and because we reach out we end up creating a community.

We do things – we provide an experience and we provide opportunity to meet and sit down with each other and say hi.  What we can bring:  we leverage our network of relationships to provide an experience of the neighbourhood for the residents like they’ve never had before.
