City Positive is operated by Heikki Walden, Sales Representative, Sutton Group Associates Realty Inc., Brokerage, in Toronto, Canada. This blog deals in matters related to the built environment and how people find meaning in their urban surroundings, how they can engage with the public realm, and how together they can seek the common good.
Heikki has studied a bit here and there: UBC (History and Biochemistry), Regent College (Interdisciplinary Studies), U of T (British and European History) Ryerson, OCAD and the Sauder School (Real Estate Appraisal).
Heikki has travelled around: He was born in Finland, grew up in Vancouver (enjoying the outdoor lifestyle of BC a lot), has lived in England (both London and in the Cheshire countryside), and in Washington, DC for a semester. For fun he has spent time in Switzerland, Paris, Poland, the Czech Republic and most of Western Europe, and also visited Beijing and Tianjin, China.
He fell in love with the City of Toronto, and has a passion for Toronto neighbourhoods and wants to promote good design and engagement with the city.
For his day job, Heikki is part of the Camber Walden Group, a team of Realtors that sells condos, lofts, townhomes, single-family character homes, and investment properties. He is excited about the ongoing transformation of Toronto with all the infill construction. Despite his love of the urban environment, Heikki regularly escapes the city to reconnect with nature and recharge.
